Eli Wesley has had a passion for horses from an early age. At nine or ten years old, he started volunteering with SpiritHorse Therapeutic Riding Center in California, where he worked as a feeder, stall cleaner, and rider.
At fourteen years old Eli began working as a groom for Daniel Training Center - this is when he knew he wanted to pursue a career in the Arabian Horse Showing world. After one year competing successfully with Apex Riding Academy in the Academy division, Eli quickly progressed into performance level competitions. Now his dedication and hard work are paying off.
Eli’s mom Mandy remarks that she is grateful for SpiritHorse and all that Eli has learned from them - hard work, dedication, and believing in himself. After the difficult circumstances surrounding the death of his father due to drug overdose when Eli was only seven years old, Mandy said she wasn’t sure if her son would ever find a place where he felt like he belonged or could make something out of himself. She says that SpiritHorse and the horse show world have been a “saving grace” for Eli.
Outside of horses, Eli is also an aspiring pilot. He earned his private pilot license on his 17th birthday – the youngest you can do that! He is determined to pursue flying as a career someday, so he is taking advantage of his homeschooling to gain the knowledge and skills needed for flight training. On top of that, Eli volunteers on the tech team at his church and runs the soundboard and helps with video and production. He has also overseen sound and production at middle school and high school ministry nights. In addition, Eli loves playing guitar.
We are pleased to announce that Eli has qualified to participate in the AHA Youth Nationals competition this year. He is excited for this opportunity and we are confident that he will do very well!
At the same time, participating in such a high-level event does come with expenses. We understand that not everyone can afford to cover such costs and may need assistance, which is why we are now seeking sponsorships from Silver Stirrup Foundation 501(c). All donations earmarked for Eli's participation will greatly help him on his journey.
On behalf of Eli, we thank you for your support and generosity. Your contribution will make it possible for Eli to continue competing at the highest level and pursuing his dreams!
Eli is working hard to compete at AHA Youth Nationals competitions this season. The funds required for him to participate will be upwards of $8,500. With the right sponsors and generous donations, he can make it there. Any kind of support will contribute to getting Eli closer to fulfilling his dream, so if you are willing to come on board as a sponsor or even donate a few dollars, it would mean the world to him. Every bit helps!
